Another Great Deer Season!

Well, another deer season has wrapped up...for all my non-resident friends.  Residents can still hunt here until December 15, so I'm still putting my time in.

Here are a couple of trail cam photos of deer that we DID NOT take this year.  The stocks are looking really good for next year!  Look for plenty of new photos of deer and from the trail cams soon!  I probably have had 20 000 trail cam photos in the past two months!

Opening Day....SNOW!!!

Today is the opening day for rifle season in Ontario and we were greeted with blizzard-like conditions.  Snow, wind and cold temps.  Oh well...this should get the deer moving around a bit!

Records smashed at Whitefish Bay

I have not done a good job at keeping the reports updated over the past month or so but I have a good one from this past weekend.  Two major Sunset Country records were smashed over the weekend.

On day one, Matt Rydberg and Brian McNanney brought in a five fish limit that weighed in at 25.00 pounds, way bigger than any other bag I have ever heard of.

On day two, the eventual tournament winners, Darren and Ray Marcine of Kenora brought in a 7 pound, 10 ounce donkey that anchored their bag.  This fish was huge and may be the biggest bass ever weighed in at a Canadian bass tournament.

Enjoy the photos.

2nd at KBI!

Savy and I took second place at the Kenora Bass International on Lake of the Woods August 6-8.  We had a tough go on day one and sat in 47th place.  Things changed though on day two and we set the all-time tournament record with the biggest one-day catch ever!  20.52 pounds!!!!  I also caught my personal best Canada largemouth that day as well, which took big bass of the day.  5.72 pounds.  Day three we had a good catch but were beaten by .02 (Yes, two one-hundredths of a pound) by our buddies Brian McNanney and Matt Rydberg of Sioux Narrows.

Overall, it was a great tournament, the organizers and volunteers did an awesome job!

3rd place at the Canadian Bass Championship

John Peterson from Northland Fishing Tackle and I took third place at the recent Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship at Rainy Lake.  It was my best finish in this tournament so we were pumped!
